I’ve made my own several times. Just buy a hex head bolt of the appropriate size, weld a nut on it. Grade eight or better lasts longer.

 

11mm is less than 5 thousandths bigger than 7/16". Would that not have worked and been much easier to find?

 

Oh, sure now you're telling me... No one mentioned that nor probably gave it a thought.... But both ideas, yours and Evons hubby will be filed for future use.

most sets stop at 10mm to go 11 often you have to go 1/2 inch drive

ace doesn't carry 11mm either

there are some of these strange ones that companies use some times that make you wonder why so few tool sets have that size

18mm is one many sets will skip
front brakes on many GM need this , just plain aggravating

I hear your frustration. I only have a few stores available in town 1 1/2 hour away. I'd have doubts about an 11mm hex bit but like Backwoodsman said there are several sizes in non-metric that are really close. If the least bit sloppy don't even try esp with a cheap tool. I have a bunch of Harbor Freight items (that store is 2.25 hours away). All that stuff is throw away duty but is worthy for a non-priority/critical job.

I just tried to clean the aerator on a Moen kitchen faucet purchased at Home Depot. Absolute throw away garbage. It's everywhere.

 

7/16 is .004" larger than 11mm that might be one reason it is in almost no sets

I wouldn't be above taking a file to a cheap allen wrench to avoid driving an hour+ either but .004" is probably plenty close well within standard +-.005" tolerances

 

even when you have stores available it doesn't mean they have your specialty item

I have a true value and a Napa 5 minutes away an Ace 10 minutes away , then at about 40-45 I can be to nearly any thing farm and fleet , menards autozone , oreilly , granger , fastinal, a really big ace, more napa's the question is will any of them have it and those times are not all in the same direction
and will they be open

not uncommon at all to just have to order it at napa and it is a day or two out
