Bread or Wrap for 'sandwiches'

Lately I've been favouring soft tortilla wraps over bread slices
when making lunch to go , or for quick dinners.
Before, it was always the traditional slices of meat/cheese
between two slices of bread.
I like the variety and quickness to have delicious wraps,
they stay fresh longer, and are cheap. I'm even going to
start making the flour wraps from scratch to be even more
frugal . Makes me wonder why I didn't think of this before.
I have tried fast food joint wraps. They are okay, but why
spend on that when they are so easy to prepare. A cool
'Portable' food.

Are you a wrap eater or a bead sandwich eater?

moonwolf- I eat both but mostly home made bread . There are all kinds of healthy grainy wraps out in stores in our area and I pick up a pack once in awhile, but finding a good recipe sounds better! Thanks for the idea. I like my home made whole wheat (or regular)tortillas but they have been a little too bready so far...not that pliable super thin wrap-sandwich type that doesn't crack when folded. I have to look up the ingredient that makes them more "elastic".........

If I have bread or rolls I have sandwiches. If I have tortillas I have a wrap.

Strangest wrap I have enjoyed was a few peanut butter and jelly wraps when I ran out of bread but had a sack of tortillas in the fridge beside the peanut butter and jelly :)

For lunch I wrapped! Duck, red onions, mushrooms in a skillet.
This put in the cheese wrap. Topped with string apple and coleslaw,
rolled. Took just a few minutes.... Delicious!
More wraps for my future....glad of the discovery.
Told you my life was boring!!!

If you heat them up before wrapping they won't crack. I just use one of those thin sheet metal burner covers.

I eat a lot of bread and a lot of tortillas as well. Use to make tortillas quite often. Being close to town and going by our Safeway quite often, I just buy them now. They're locally made.

Sometimes for a quick snack, peanut butter and butter, wrapped in a tortilla hits the spot!

I like both, in different applications. Many things are very good in tortillas, but for "normal" sandwich type stuff, I like regular bread best. I do tend to roll a ,lot of things up in tortillas, but they usually get how sauce, cheese, maybe sour cream and diced green chiles added also. scrambled eggs/bacon/sausage or fried spam, or red beans and rice, or leftover mac and cheese, with tuna and peas, canned "ranch style beans"...

I've found theres tortillas I like, and some I don't. The ones that are tougher and chewier, and stick to my teeth, not so much. Soft, but are easy to bite through and not crack much when eating them, they are the favorites. The corn ones, or mixed corn'flour are nice for some things. warming them helps them not to crack, as Joe said. In the microwave for 20 seconds or so helps, sometimes I just lay them over whatever is in a pot/pan on the stove to warm them.
