When to clip Muscovy wings?

Turns out Muscovy ducks like it here and have gifted me with 20 babies. The first batch of 8 is about 8 weeks old now, and so PRETTY. At what point do I need to trim their flight feathers and does anyone have good instructions on how to do so?

I've found a place to have them butchered (about 2 hours from here) and am anxious to try my first (to my knowledge) Muscovy. Unless I wait too long and they fly away. :runforhills::runforhills:

Thanks,

We have had a few leave over the years. I wish more would. When you clip the feathers it is easiest to do one wing only. This keeps them off balance. If you do both it is amazing how well they fly on nubs. They will easily clear the fence and head to the swimming pool :yuck:.Ask ME how I know. 28,000 gallons later :grit:.
When you clip the wings be careful of the blood-filled feathers. While they are growing in the feathers are rich with blood and nutrients. Clip at the wrong time and they will nearly bleed to death on you.
