I bought a bunch of magazines at the thrift store awhile back and have been enjoying them this winter, In 1 issue of Mother was an article on BPA in plastics
2009 issue.. Where have I BEEN? after reading the article I went through my kitchen cabinets and threw away anything that said CHINA plastic (just because i dont trust them) and I would and AM buying As much USA products as possible. so my losses were 5 plastic drinking cups Sterilite brand which were supposed to be bpa free but anytime u left a drink in those glasses it tasted like plastic yuck. plastic pitcher even my plastic cooking utensils, rubbermaid bowls (not made in china) were moved to the garage for storage bins.

On my shopping trip ( 3 stores) I was UNable to locate ANY utensils made in
the USA, so i didnt buy any. after looking at 3 different boxes of glasses i found anchor glassware Made in USA Great got me some of those,
onward now to the dollar store Alll China didnt buy anything,
last store i found Anchor Storage bowls with lids proudly announcing BPA free the lids are more rubbery than the ones made by Rubbermaid or sterilite, And the 1 cup bowls are made int he USA however when I picked up the larger bowls 4 cup size made in the USA OR China?? soooooo ummm where was THIS bowl made? hmm well since they werent there to answer me they lost a sale. bowls on shelf,
Looking at their utensils mostly farberware ALL Made in CHINA , Well I USED to like Farberware but now Im boycotting them too.

so 3 stores later and i came home with a dozen drinking glasses n 3 storage bowls and shocked at all the chinese garbage stocking the store shelves. I am planning on writing anchor a letter on the bowl issue but thought I'd share a little of my day~

Sent anchor a letter yesterday....

Attn: Consumer Relations

After reading an article in Mother Earth News on plastics and BPA, I went through my cabinets and disposed of anything that was MADE IN CHINA or Plastic.

I found your glasses at the first store I went to and they were very nice sturdy glasses proudly marked with the "Made In The USA" stamp, which in my opinion should be BIGGER as I actually had to LOOK for where that was made. So thank you for making an all American product.
At the second store I went to, i found some glass storage containers with lids also proudly announcing BPA Free and Made in the USA, Great!! I am really liking your company at this point for being so Consious of the dangers of that product. However~ when i went to purchase a larger storage bowl 4 cup size, on the label said Made in the USA "OR" China?? So where exactly was this product made? I am NOT purchasing any items from China or ANY other country. My hard earned American Dollars should be spent on american workers and trickle down effect to support the USA' economy. I should be putting American children through college Not China's Children.

Sincerily

Funny that you posted this today. I got my latest issue of MEN today and they had an article about bpa and how it's affecting people.
Some manufacturers are now making bpa free plastics, according to the article. I'll be looking for some my next shopping trip. It's really hard to pack lunches for work in unbreakable yet microwavable containers.
I would be especially concerned if I was male the article i read said the CDC had tested for BPA in numerous human tissue including spinal fluid and embryotic fluids, they say the BPA messes up a womans reproductive system before birth. Canada (yeah Canada) has banned BPA in ANY baby product :) But for the men and boys out there according to their study BPA causes testicular cancer and Penile deformation in babies. How can our FDA think this is a good product?
Consequently years after BPA was allowed into our food system they retested the amount of BPA we ingest or breath or bath in, and we are taking in 3x!! yes 3X the amount they gave the rats in study, at 2x the dose the rats developed cancer. and yet this is a safe product? yikes
