Our Mini Donkey is getting close to giving birth (I think), time wise she is on schedule anyway. Couple of questions for anyone that may be able to help. What kind of things should I look for as far as physical signs or maybe behavior? Currently she is in pasture with the Jack, does she need to be separated from him? ( I am assuming yes but thought I would ask)

I've seen all types of critters -- bovine, equine, swine, etc. where families are kept together, mom, dad, kids and have no problems. They're on large properties, not confined in a pen.

Other folks remove the males. Only you know your critters and are there to watch what happens and intervene if needed.

I would be careful with the Jack in the same pasture, some are good father's and others will kill the foal.
Personally I would err on the side of caution.

Normally their bag will fill up, back end will swell up a little, they become restless, some get up and down a lot, some will stop eating.

Some Jennets will allow you to be around her foal, some won't. She'll let you know pretty quick which one she is.

Good luck!

Yes, I would err on the side of caution myself; one mean pawing episode at the baby could kill it and you don't want to risk that. I took my male dog away from my female when she gave birth, and introduced the family back together when the puppies were older and had their eyes open. The male turned out to be a gentle father, but I didn't know that until I was able to supervise CLOSELY.
