Do any of you buy Hoop Cheese? There is a place here that sells the red rind cheddar cheese and there they call it Hoop Cheese. Pronounced Huup Cheese.

For breakfast each Christmas morning, I slice about two or three pounds of Hoop cheese, stick it in the oven and let it melt, then the children and grandchildren put this gooey, sticky, stringy stuff inside a biscuit, over their eggs, or on top of their grits. If I didn't have Hoop Cheese and it melted, I think they would all refuse to eat.

This year I made up baskets for each family with a loaf of pumpkin bread, homemade jelly, jam or preserves, and a wedge of Hoop Cheese along with a few other little "happies". Every one of those big kids and little ones too acted like I had given them a million dollars when I took that wedge of cheese out of the refrigerator to add to their baskets.

It is so good to see families that are happy with the small pleasures in life. We have some fine children. They know a good thing when they see it. :p

They were happy with the homemade pumpkin bread and jelly too but the cheese made them happiest.

hoop cheese is the best! I love it. The big farmer's market here usually has someone selling it and it is so good. I remember growing up my paw would go to the little store near them and get hoop cheese and then make biscuits. That was the best breakfast ever. I never put mine in the fridge though......its best when room temp.
