Won't turn on, I am testing switch for continuity and wanted to make sure I was doing it right. Using 200 ohms setting on mutli-meter: I tested cord first and it looked good. Below, with switch on: Double pole switch

First pic- I have one probe on black (from cord) and the other probe on red.
Second pic- One probe on white (from cord) and other probe on other red.
Third pic- I don't see fuse or anything else to check.

IF I am doing this correctly, I am thinking switch and cord are good, and motor is bad?

thanks

You're checking it right.
Try checking continuity across the 2 motor leads (red/orange wires). Your windings look good but it only takes one break in it to be "broke".

I ran into that. The motor had a "thermal fuse" in the winding. It was there to shut the motor down (permanently) if it overheated.

Actually, I think it was there to make me buy another vacuum cleaner after a few years.

The thermal fuse had gone bad. I removed it and wired across where it had been and it works fine.

Yeah, I know: It was there for my safety and if the motor is overloaded it could start a fire, etc.
