Our fair is a month away. I'm shopping for clippers. Any opinions about Oster Golden A5 vs Oster Turbo A5? The turbo A5 is 12 bucks more, but what's the diff?

petedge.com give a small trimmer clipper too for free. It's a 45 dollar value.

Kind of silly not to take that deal.

I've heard alot about Andis too.

Thoughts?
Thanks, moday

The Andis Super Plus or if you can find the old marroon Andis Super Plus are faster, they don't heat up as much and the Clipmaster wide blade fits on them which means about 1/2 as many strokes to trim the body. I have had mine for years, I love them, they are my winter udder trimmers, and my trim up for shows (ears, udders, touchups) love them!

I am sure they have new A5's but not with more strokes per minute nor less heat than the Andis...but my old A5's were like a toy when I got my new Andis as a show award. Kind of like when you move from the old Oster/Sunbeam livestock clippers to the new Listers...you will never go back. Vicki

I have the Turbo A5 and like it. I've used older A5s and they got REALLY hot. Mine isn't really cool, either, though. You have to really spray and lube those blades CONSTANTLY to keep them from getting dull.

One thing I'd caution you about is the guy that sharpens my blades told me the new Cryogenix blades are hands down the best blade in terms of sharpness, durability, metal quality, etc., but they have a new spring design that requires replacement after about every 5th sharpening or something??? Haven't replaced any of mine yet, but we'll be getting close on a few of these blades if he's not full of it. Two other folks sharpening for me never mentioned it to us but then again, my husband didn't ask and the blades didn't stay as sharp for as long!
