What is this?

I work at a vets office. Last week, we had a 4 week old pygmy cross come in. He was pulled from his mom 2 weeks before and became a bottle baby, he was also a triplet. When he came in, he was extremely lethargic, couldnt stand, had hardly any suckle re-flex at all. he just laid there. he also had a extremely sub-normal body temp. It didnt even read on our mercury thermometer, on the digital it was right around 92 degrees f.

He got sub-q fluids, a bo-se shot and was warmed up. He wasnt allowed to go home until his temp. was normal. He came back the next day with the same symptoms just a bit worse. We put a catheter in and he got a special mix of IV fluids reccomended by a UC Davis vet. He was doing better after that. Today he came back in, he was still a little lethargic and just overall not feeling very well at all. He got a bo-se shot again today and was sent home.

So if you guys have dealt with floppy kid sydrome, does it sound like he has it? Or could it be something else?

I don't know. It does sound like a bad case of it -- were the owners using a mineral salt with selenium in it? I've only dealt with mild cases, which cleared up quickly after a few doses of Vitamin E (I just squirt the contents of the capsule into their mouths). Don't know what else it could be, as you say the bo-se shots seem to work for a while. Has he been given a Vitamin B shot yet? That should be done, I think.

2 weeks old, goat milk. This baby was a friends an they had to pull it, this was the first and 2 does came after. But, this is the only one that is bad sick. I have had it 5 nights now an going on 6 nights. It sucks real good an has good yellowish berries. Just can't stand on it's on. I'd like to save this baby if I can. BTW it's a small fainting goat I think. I just had to try to get this baby better if I can. Thing is these vets here has no BoSe, C & D Antitoxin, or Selenium & Vit E Injectable. I have called in a 75 mile range an no luck. I really don't know what to do next. I've gave Vit. B Complex this morning. Anyone has a idea I'm open for about anything. I just keep him dry an give him his bottle when he's hungry.

where are you located?
maybe you could find a breeder that would give you some bo-se?
even though drinking from bottle, do you notice that the tongue would go out on one side?
for a start get some vit e caps from pharmacy and give this once a day for a couple of days. cut off the tip of the caps and squeeze in her mouth.

is this kid from cae negative dam or at least got heat treated colostrum?
