eco-friendly bird netting disposal?

I have some bird netting that has become somewhat 'moth eaten' that I need to dispose of. But if I just put it in a landfill somewhere it is sure to entangle and kill some kind of critter eventually.

Does anyone know what the best way to dispose of this stuff is?

Could you bury it? Maybe use it to keep weeds down or critters out??

It is made out of black plastic.
