We're living in a 1957 Spartan trailer, not pretty but it's paid for. At least we won't have to worry about foreclosure. Yearly taxes are on 160 dollars.
That is terrific, especially in this age of borrowing all you can. There are not many people (except on this forum of course!) that do not even try to get debt free. I had a friend tell me the other day that he always has at least 7,000 on his credit card. GULP!
We would like to have the 4 or 5 acres next to us, but I don't think it's for sale. The people who bought it about 3 or 4 years ago, came out mowed it, put in an electric pole, had a water meter put in, but has never done anything else. It caught fire last winter because some idoit tried to drive across it for a shortcut. He got stuck and the cataletic converter caught the grass on fire.
iive never paid off a place before. it must be a great feeling.
