I wanted to take a minute to thank all of the kind people giving me direction on this board.
Well, I am on my fourth batch of soap (blender, thanks for your excellent description Bowdonkey). I got the extra blender form freecycle. I picked up a nice rack at a garage sale and have the cut bars on it for curing. All kind of great scents floating around the house thanks to Beaglady.
The stuff works, as I have lathered up bit stuck to the loaf pan when unmolding. I have used 4 different made up 16 oz fat recipes, and used the lye calculator. the fats I started with were coconut oil and lard, then playing around with olive and a vegan bar with corn, olive and vegetable and coconut. all molded up perfectly and sliced nicely.
now, I suppose I just have to wait to use them....
