I just picked a few pounds of cherries last week to make my first batch of wine when, to my dismay, i found that maybe a quarter of them had little white worms in them. Does anyone know of any way to keep my cherries insect free without an insecticide? If i have to, then i will, but i would really like to avoid putting poisin of my food.

The worms have got to taste like cherry juice. If you squeze out the juice and strain it no one can tell the difference unless you tell. I suppose you might want to drink some of the wine yourself, and in that case scuttle my suggestion.
