Has anyone made a wind powered water pump? I live in Ontario where winters are cold. My barn pump keeps freezing. I am thinking of making a wind powered water pump that would contantly pump water into the barn, excess water would drain back to the well. Moving water does not freeze.

what to do when the wind doesn't blow?
livestock drinking from the constant supply will contaminate the water draining back to the well.
insulated box over the pump, light bulb for heat?

    just some thots

How about a wind powered alternator and an electric car interior heater inside a box ?
That'll keep the pump warm no problem.
