The protests that took place in 140 U.S. cities this spring were mostly peaceful, but the arson, vandalism and looting that did occur will result in at least $1 billion to $2 billion of paid insurance claims — eclipsing the record set in Los Angeles in 1992

Upwards of 2 Billion dollars?
I had to read thru the article to confirm that it actually claimed the protests were mostly peaceful, or if that was your own phrasing.

I think one can go back to the insurance payouts for numerous Hurricanes in Texas and Florida and note that several large carriers no longer issue policies in those states, and the numbers weren't as substantial.

Good point - I could see insurance companies abandoning some cities

The insurance companies will charge whatever is needed, spread out in the state or region. Might take a couple or three years to raise rates. But they WILL MAKE A PROFIT.

I read my crystal ball a couple months ago on a thread here and said insurance rates will go up among a couple other things. And Redlands Okie it'll be a lot sooner than 2 or 3 years. As soon as there's a payout - they'll be raised. This is another form of socialism - we're all paying for the few.

Don't worry, all looters have been arrested, prosecuted, and sentenced to make restitution, which they will surely do in a timely manner.
