Never thought of America being cursed, anymore than all the other civilizations built on the fall of others.

History is history its in the past. If something was learned from it and was used in a positive way great. If you happen to get smallpox that most likely would be a curse. If one finds contentment that could be a blessing. You are right history is cruel, just have to look how this country was founded. Humans can be very cruel.

But you would think, how much more intelligent we are today than stone age man, we as modern man would be less cruel.

The OP was taken from what was actually supposed to be a joke, (perhaps a Pet Sematary reference).

I thought that if I posted it it might prompt some conversation about the ill treatment of native peoples.

We have simply improved the technology of our cruelty.

Every civilization is built on a burial ground. The Natives were pretty busy killing each other before we got here. Every tribe in the new world had slaves, and many of them practiced human sacrifice. We didn't invent cruelty, and we weren't any more cruel than anyone else. There were simply more of us, and we had better tools.

Stone age or modern, has nothing to do with it. Human nature has not changed, and never will.

I agree, humans can be very cruel, and they can be very benevolent as well.

The point of the OP was to demonstrate that the abuse of the Native American has been a part of the history of the US from it's earliest times and is still ongoing.

Mt. Rushmore sits on land stolen from the Sioux by way of an illegal treaty that violated the Laramie treaty of 1868. It was signed under duress because the Sioux were being knowingly starved to death in order to compel them to sign.
