We are about to buy 3.5 acres that was just planted a month or 2 ago with I think winter wheat. When is it usually harvested? just woundering couse I obviusly cant build till its up. this is in zone 5 KS
In Kansas, usually in late June/ early July. It depends on how early a spring we get.
Is it your crop? If it belongs to somebody else, you can buy out his interest in a quarter acre or so and build when you want to. Developers out here do it all the time.
It depends on the weather. Here is extreme SW KS usually June 10th till July 1st. Have seen harvest over before July 4th and also seen it still going then. The further north in KS you go the later it will be. Not sure how far north you are talking about.
Kansas wheat harvest started first around Medicine Lodge and then over a two week period or a little longer it spreads across the state. The NW corner is toward the latter part harvested.
As already stated toward the end of June and to mid-July. Starting dates are mainly determined by weather, i.e. more specifically by heat, rainfall, and wind.
Thanks everyone, July would work out perfect, we will have a few more things paid off so it will be perfect timing. Cant wait already making plans here!
