When are spaghetti squash ripe?

    Are they ready when they get full sized, or do they need to ripen?

    You can eat'em pretty much anytime they reach a decent size. You could probably eat them as babies too.

    We use the old method , if your finger nail won't pierce the skin then its ready to pick.

    That is for winter squash that you are storing not summer squash.
