What kind of insect is this?

    It does look like the sphinx moths in my little book. There are many different kinds of them, so it is hard to tell which one it is. Definitely a moth...but don't know which one.

    One of the sphinx moth clan. those things can get huge!

    we get tons of them around here in upstate ny. they are little tiny moths, not bats. We also get Cecropia moths and Luna moths. Cecropias are the largest in the U.S.
