Just wondering what favorite container plant you like and why? Brenda
I have an old garden cart its like 5x5 and 20 in high. I filled it with dirt and the moles cant get my plants cuz of the wood on the bottom . This year I am planting garlic and carrots in it last year I planted potatoes in it it worked purty good
Each year I start a few dozen plants from seed and use them, potted, on the deck. They're easy to grow, and no two plants look the same! And they look great all summer ... there is no waiting for them to "bloom"!
I love the look of anything tropical. Most canna lillies and elephant ears can overwinter here but very few bananas can. My favorite container plant is banana plants. I love the way they look but am heartbroken every spring when they fail to regrow out of the ground. Last year, I bought several and put them in 15 gallon pots. They're in the living room right now. I hope to eventually get them to fruit. I cannot wait to have a greenhouse and grow all kinds of tropical fruits.
I've got maybe a dozen or so other plants, but most of my plants are orchids. 50 or 60...or maybe more. I forget to count the small ones.
I would love to have bananas, as well. There are some types that are hardy enough to overwinter here, but I don't know about the fruiting. One day, I'll find out!
I have little lime and lemon trees in big pots that I get a dozen or so limes and lemons off of so far, and they smell really nice, and are pretty, too. I also have roses in containers, it's hard to choose!
