I live in Ma where we've had lots of rain. As a result I have mushrooms sprouting everywhere. Now I have this stuff down by my mailbox. It is mushrooming up and looks like it has slimed from one place to another and then there is a big tannish blob of yuck. Its in 2 places and its really gross. It looks like some sort of mushroom or fungus.

Does anyone have any idea what this could be?

    Thanks

    Heather

Did it start out yellow-ish? If so, it is probably Springtail...a group of minute, wingless insects. They are also sometimes called "Snow Fleas".

yes it is slime mold. You want to get a shovel and get it out of there because in one or two dys it will turn dark and dry and then it will send off what looks like smoke, but that is the spores. Billions of them.

thanks, its now black. It almost looks like volcanic ash. I'll go get rid of it now, if I can.
