I have been collecting fermenting crocks (with the water moat) and large glass jars. I will be starting my first fermentation project with Kraut. I want to create healthy and more diverse foods and drinks. So what I am wondering is... What all have you folks tried to ferment? What did you like and what was a complete failure?

Cant help you with fermented foods but have made my fair share of wines. This years big hit with friends and family was skeeter pee...a lemon fermentation that is awesome on a summer day poured over strawberries and ice.

I just tried fermented pickles this year and they are AMAZING!! I inoculated with oak leaves, super easy.

Other than that, we've made wine. Don't recommend strawberries, but blackberries make great wine.

Curious what others have to add! I'm planning on trying kimchi next year.

I have done kraut with good results. Tried my hand with various fruit wines, nothing to brag about there, sweet pickles come out tasty and crunchy. Lost that recipe though. :(

Pickles, spicy dilly beans & garlic are some of my favorite things to ferment! Just started a batch of fermented mustard, we’ll see how it goes!
