    Hi all,
We're getting ready to get our first goats -- 3 fainting goat does, 2 of which are bred!!

What do I need to get started? Beyond feed and housing, I mean. Meds, supplements, mineral block, birth stuff, etc. What are the must haves, what can I add a little later?

    Thanks for the input.

Howdy...you can go to caprinesupply.com and order a free catalog...in the catalog it has a list of all the basics you will need to keep goats...and for upcoming births...it's alot faster then trying to type it all out....The first thing ya will need is alot of info!....try to find someone around yer way that raises goats in case you have problems they are close to help you...also goat keeping 101 is a good book for starting out....good luck dale anne

Just a quick reply off the cuff.

Biomyacin or pennicillan(sp?) in case of some type of infection
Vaccine reaction medicine (the name escapes me)
    Kid puller
Powdered colostrum (just in case your first doe doesn't come into milk)
    bottles, pritchard nipple (or other)
bulb (for suctioning out the noses of kids)
rubber gloves, lots of papertowels or diapers/sanitary pads
    Needles, syringe
Drench gun (I hear a turkey baster works well, too)
    CD&T vaccine
    A good goat veterinarian book
    Cydectin/Ivermec/safeguard or other for worms

Hoeggers Supply has a listing of items for the goat medicine chest. I'm not sure if it's listed online or not but it is in the back of their catalog.
