The darned borers got my summer squash, zucchini, acorn squash AND cucumbers this year! Someone on this forum said to plant radishes all around them, let them grow, go to seed, just leave them. The radishes seem to help repel the borers.

I do have ONE cucumber vine that is doing well, come to think of it. It has marigolds growing close to it. I wonder if the marigold is keeping the squash borers away?

So. I plan to get a lot of radish seeds next year, and plant them all around the squashes. I also plan to have several marigold plants throughout the garden again.

    Good Luck!

My friend told me she uses DE around all her plants especially when she sets them in the gound and hasn't had any trouble with the vine borers since she started using it.
