Anyone familiar with the West Point NY area? I know upstate NY is reasonably priced (though highly taxed) but West Point seems a bit close to "the city". Anything you can share about cost of living, influence of 'the city", ect. would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Joe

I went to school at West Point and in general, the costs are pretty high. Most of the folks living on the Hudson River (for example, Cold Spring just across from WP) are either well heeled commuters from NYC or bought expensive summerhouses there (for example, David Letterman and Norman Schwarzkopf). That being said, if you go about an hour north, I believe the prices do come down.

kind of what I figured... looks like commuter distance to NYC which of course is going to drive up the prices.

    Thanks
