We have discovered that our 3 BR chickens are laying their eggs in a small toy cradle right next to our front door. I think it all started when I changed a light bulb in the porch light, and put the old bulb in the cradle. Now if only I can get our Bramahs trained.

Our Chickens liked the clothes basket outside the back door! I thought it was too wierd, but it was a short trip to collect the eggs :)

My grandmother used leave golf balls in the nests to train the chickens where to lay. They even fooled a king snake once as he ate the golf ball instead of an egg.

I just wish I could get my girls to lay all in the same place! :bash:

We have found about 8 places where they like to lay, (and we even have nests, but do they lay there, OH NO!) so it's kinds like Easter morning every day...

Glad the King Snake got a ball instead of the egg...

Only 8 different spots? I'll trade ya! Mine lay everywhere...nest box, ground, in things and under things in the yard. Every day they seem to change where they lay!!!

Hmmm, I wonder if I can train them to come inside and lay them right in the skillet, then peck on the coffee pot on their way out. :nana: Hey, it's a thought. :baby04:

If you confine them to the coop when they are young and start laying, they should keep laying there.

When a couple of mine start laying elsewhere, I just keep them locked up until 10AM or noon, and that gets them back into the swing of things.
