Oh boy! Congratulations on your "new" house! You will sure have a LOT of things to keep you busy, for years to come. They dont call it 'sweat equity' for nothing!

It is BEAUTIFUL though. How old is it?

Welcome to the crazy world of old house renovations...its a grand learning experience.:D

Not really sure of the age of the house yet. We're doing the research now. But my guess is it was built between 1890 and 1925. There are many similar stone homes in the area probably built by the same builder. We hope to take it back to the original as much as possible with a few modern ammenities of course.

Basically we just bought the land. The seller and bank and we all agreed that the home was not livable and not saleable as a home. So we bought land and were lucky enough to have a stone house sitting on it. It dropped the price considerably and no insurance was required then on the loan. It will be insured once the work begins.

Man, you are definitely one of those people that see the silver lining...
I think it has lots of potential. Pretty land that it is on! Good luck. There is a website called www.houseblogs.net that includes places that needed elbow grease and are now wonderful homes. Maybe give you some inspiration and encouragement.

What is really great about this deal is that our payment are only 260.00 a month and will be paid off in 3 years. It still gives us plenty of money to start our project right away. Nice huh?

Ok, let me restate this... what is the SOURCE of the water and are there any "water rights" issues you need to be aware of?
