Has anyone planted them and had them grow? Do they need to be dried first?

This spring was cold and damp, and my first planting didn't make it.

THEN, I looked at the watermelon we were eating with new eyes.....

So, does anyone know if I can plant these seeds, or do they need a period of dormancy first?

If they are mature seeds, they will sprout and grow but if you bought it at the grocery its more than likely a hybrid. BTW, watermelon seeds are very good to eat, good for the Kidneys.

I have 9 moon and stars (105 days) watermelon seeds if you want them. I also have orangeglo, but they were difficult to get to germinate.

On year when we just started here in va, we were broke. But we did have chickens and a pig or two. Well I went walking out back - to destress - and low and behold there were the two biggest watermelons I had ever seen. The seeds that we spit out the back porch must have washed down the hill and grew. All from store bought melons. True story.
