and I have no idea where to start. But I have lots of enthusiasm and am ready to learn (as well as a healthy appetite for 'shrooms!!)

Do any of you grow your own gourmet mushrooms? Where do you do it, and what varieties? With what success? What to watch for? Problems?

Thanks for any comments, suggestions, or warnings! I look forward to what you have to say. :)

YOu can order kits in boxes. You get them damp, and stick them in your basement or under your kitchen sink. The medium is usually inccoculated with enough spores to produce for 3-6 weeks, depending on the variety.

oh - my personal experience was "regular" mushrooms...but it was really simple, with no problems. Literally - 1) water, 2) stick in the dark, 3) harvest.

We covered it loosely with plastic, to keep it moit in there.

Thanks for the website! I'll check them out. Once you get them started, can you continue to propegate them? Or do you have to reorder another kit?

    Thanks!

Edited to say: I just checked out Fungi.com. What a very cool site. Answered many of my questions. I think I will be ordering a kit from them this fall!!
If you are interested in mushrooms, too, check it out!

yea. I thought there were button kits on mushroom.com but they aren't coming up right now. I've been to a site that has them. I like just plain ole buttons too.
