My son has just told me he is moving to MS. Job offer in Vicksburg. He's going to down next week to look around. Anyone local to that area that could recommend areas to live in within commuting distance of Vicksburg? Any got anything to rent? Any help or comments would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    PQ

I used to have a friend who lived in Vicksburg. Nice little place.
I heard it's a nice place. I only remember her talking about going to Jackson, about 45 miles I think.

Like most towns in Mississippi, Vicksburg isn't a very big town. A couple of miles outside of the town proper and your're in the woods. Plenty of houses on acerage, small "farms", etc.

When I came to Mississippi my employer had a realator show me houses here and there. She led me away from one property I thought looked interesting saying "Oh, that's out in the county." Turned out that "out-in-the-county" was no more than three miles from the town center.

You barely got your motor warmed up going to work.
