Be aware of your surroundings, do NOT sit in the car and fiddle with things, lock the doors and get moving ASAP!

My cousin was dragged out of her car at gun point in a groc store parking lot last night! Two men pulled her out of her car, kicked her in the sides, broke a tooth, two fingers, torn her clothes and robbed her of her purse AND took her KEYS.. She has house keys, office keys, money, lic.(which has her home address on it) and cc/bank cards!

How awful..that poor woman.

My great aunt had a terrible experience coming out of a grocery store in PA, abducted and tortured in ways too awful to describe.

These were young men and she was in her 60's

Please be careful out there.

I'm so sorry to hear that! I hope she's okay and doesn't have too much trouble replacing everything.

I heard on the news just the other night that this is the number one mistake women can make right now. They said the police are seeing lots of this sort of crime, and the best thing a woman can do is be AWARE when heading to her car, if anyone approaches, look them right in the eye (they'll know you can ID them later), yell loudly to get attention (don't worry about looking silly if they're not a mugger) and head back to the store. Once you are in your car IMMEDIATELY lock the doors, start the car and drive away. Do NOT sit in your car sorting through your purse or your purchases, talk on the phone or anything else.

We always think these stories are urban myths -- or that we're safe in our hometowns. I know I feel pretty safe here, in mine, but you just never know. Thanks for the reminder.

I hope she will be ok. I hate to hear things like this. I just can't understand why people think that they can justify doing something like this to another person.

Maybe another thing to be aware of is if you have a later model vehicle that the remote has a button that makes a most horrible noise so long as the key is not in the ignition. I believe the button is supposed to be used for locating the car if you can't find it in a parking lot but I find it most annoying when it is pushed on accident! Someone here had posted previously that they use it when they think someone is creaping around outside and the car is in the driveway....push the button from inside the house!

Just another way you could draw attention to a bad situation. And NEVER let them get you into another vehicle!!
