Reminds me of something I saw last night on the weather channel about the dust bowl.
After many had moved, they started a pledge and club for those who intended to stay. To help morale, they organized jackrabbit roundups to give them something to do to feel they were fighting what was happening. The jackrabbits were rampant and they felt eating what little grass was holding down what soil wasn't blowing away. Those were some tough folks who lived in Kansas, TX and Ok at that time.
