We recently got a 91 Dodge Maxi van, 1 ton, 15 passenger. It started life as a prison van then the second owner had it until we got it. The big slider door on the side requires the key to open it. It won't open from the inside or outside unless the key is stuck in and turned. Anyone know of a cure, or do I need to track down a regular handle at the junkyard?

Also, the roof has stiffener pockets stamped into it. These retain water and have eaten the paint off in a few of them. The bare metal is showing, it is still shiny, probably galvanized or coated. What kind of white paint would seal up the metal again?

Zinc chromate primer followed by good quality oil bases paint. As for the lock thats not within my experiences.
