We are bringing the lambs home (hour drive) in a pull trailer with a wooden floor. What would be best to spread on the floor, wood chips or straw? I want them comfortable without a lot of slipping. Do I need to provide a water bucket for that long a drive? (four months old)

And what do you line your huts with? We used straw and fallen hay last time, is this still the thing to do?

Straw is definitely best for sheep: sawdust will ruin wool, and even hair sheep will be annoyingly messy.

They won't need water for an hour's drive; should be pretty low stress, sheep travel well.

And yeah, straw and hay make the best bedding.

Congratulations on your new lambs! :)

Unless the drive was over 3 hours, we just use rubber floor mats to help slipping and do not put in water. On long hauls we do use straw. We give water only once we stop since it would slop all over in a moving trailer.
