Okay it is time to look into alternative health care before all these docs kill me...

I have had Systemic Lupus for about 7 years.. controlled until recently.
Then I was just diagnosed 2 months ago with type 2 diabetes
and now yesterday with Adult onset of severe Eczema.

I am taking meds and now they are giving me meds for the meds.. it is time I took control

All of these autoimmune disorders together are getting a bit hard for me to manage...

Any sites that I can go to look at natural ways to control these or some of these issues? Alos I am think a complete detox or cleansing? What do ya'll think?

Thanks

I can't offer any medical advice, but I will sure pray that you are given the strength to get through these trials.

Most auto-immune conditions lead to other things. I have a certain condition (I keep it private!) which has already led to diabetes, vision problems, skin problems, sleep apnoea - and there are many more delights in store for me down the track - including Alzheimer's, cancer and osteoporosis.

It's hard coming to grips with all of this - especially when you start out (as I did) with PTSD, which certainly hasn't helped!

The best way to deal with it is to forget all the individual names and just lump it all together under one umbrella-term - 'an auto-immune condition', perhaps. That way your poor overloaded brain and your emotions don't have to cope with numerous individual things - as my list above indicates. One thing is far easier (mentally) to cope with than a dozen or more! So don't separate them out.

Detoxing isn't going to change things. There is some evidence that detoxing could do more harm than good.

You're looking for that magic bullet that cures everything. You need to come to grips with the fact that no such thing exists. Instead, learn to just live with what you've got. I know at first hand that this isn't easy - but if you just take it one day at a time, you learn to accept it and cope with it.

The worst thing you can do, especially when you're in your current state of being overwhelmed, is to stop taking your prescription medications. They won't necessarily cure you, but they do alleviate some or all of the symptoms and make life liveable.

Also, try to understand that if, later on, you decide to abandon modern medicine in favour of herbal medicine - you'll just be swapping one medication regime for another, which is probably not nearly so effective or reliable. One is neither worse nor better nor safer than the other.

Meantime, discuss your fears with your doctor(s); seek professional counselling to help you get through this 'shock to the system'; and learn some relaxation techniques - perhaps yoga, or meditation, or just 'chilling out'. Aromatherapy can be very useful - try using lavender or rose to perfume your home - it really is very relaxing. And learn to do some deep breathing exercises - it's relaxing, and also helps your brain function more clearly.

And, since I know how much it helps when things get A Bit Much, I'm sending you a big HUG and my very best wishes.

I guess I need to need to hear that every so often.. thanks for the hugs...:)

It does us good to have a thoroughly good whine every now and then, and to wallow in our misery! A good howl can be very therapeutic. We're entitled to it when we're thrown one thing after another. It's only when the whining and wallowing become a regular habit that it becomes a problem. But we all have our bad days and need to let it out when we're amongst friends (which we all are in HT, aren't we?). I've been known to do it myself more than once! We're all just mere mortals after all!

Keep ploddin' along, one step at a time! You're not alone.

Another HUG offered in the spirit of friendship and fellow-suffering!
You could try a board certified Naturopath. We have one, and really like him. As others have pointed out though, you might just be trading one type of medication for another. I hope you find a solution that works. I'll pray for you too.
Aintlifegrand, very sorry to hear the progression of things! I have 2 of yr 3 complaints and most of culpepper's! yikes! For the diabetes (which may be stress induced) I eat tiny meals 6 to 8 times/day, took the meds for 2 yrs (which gave me absesses!) and lost 6 lbs. When I lost the 6 lbs, which took me 3 yrs cause I was thin, I've always eaten an enormous amt of veg, gone to the gym every day, and worked outside; anyway, after that, the glucose plumetted, and I could safely stop the RX. Still have the ecxema; no rx for that at this point for me! For some reason, walking has been determined to be the best exercise for people w diabetes, so I do this every day, and I live in YOUR climate! (Also had to start drinking 45 oz of water every day, not just tea). Best wishes, ldc
Have you looked into a low carb diet? I know many people keep their type 2 diabetes under control with a low carb diet and some people with lupus find it helpful as well. It also is good at reducing inflammation. I would really look at diet changes that will reduce inflammation.

Extra virgin coconut oil might help with the eczema (and will give you energy).

I am on one now..and it has done wonders for the diabetes...I attempted the Paleolithic diet for awhile.. but it is difficult not to eat any beans, tubers, or dairy....I go to an allergist next week so I am hoping he will find what is triggering the eczema as i have never ever had this before....I have started using an oatmeal goats milk soap and it has helped greatly...I will give the EVCO a try as I need to moisturize right after my shower...( oh..do you mean to use it for cooking? mositurizing or both?)

Thanks

You can use it either way, but you probably get more bang for the buck by eating it. A lot of people put some in their coffee or in a smoothie. It's also great for frying. You can also make chocolate bark - coconut oil, splenda or other non-caloric sweetener, and chocolate. Add nuts if you have them. Put in the refrigerator for a little while and eat like fudge.
I have tried a BOX full of natural remedies. The ones that worked for my OWN autoimmune disease (multiple sclerosis) are l-carnitine, turmeric, and cumin.

I buy empty cold capsules on line and put the turmeric and cumin inside: I buy cumin and turmeric in the spice rack in the grocery store. I buy l-carnitine in the vitamin aisle.
