@Pony you know how that goes with the lovely ladies. As soon as your back is turned, they will deliver. :D

Tell them you're going up to the house to make a sandwich and then hide around the corner? A couple years ago I left after a doe delivered triplets, I went up and got a sandwich and heard noise - huh?, ran back down - there was the quad. No shame in tricking them a little bit, lol.

Fill the tub for a relaxing bubble bath. As soon as you get in, something will surely happen.

Overnight temps are supposed to drop to the 20s next week.

I think we all know what's going to happen then.

Guess I'd better get a couple of cages set up in the house.

@Ziptie - did your girl deliver in the storm or did you make it through to wait some more?

Still waiting...she is getting really annoyed with us separating her from the rest of the herd at night. Got to love how I'm the bad guy on trying keep her and the babies safe!

They always play this game though. Just when I am about to give up separating them, BAM baby on the ground.

I put one up in a stall today. Poor thing is so heavy bred, she can barely waddle.

Her grandmother was given to birthing out an entire herd with one pregnancy. Looks like Trubby's Jewel may be planning to do the same. I will be surprised if she doesn't throw quads.

I will also be very concerned if she has only a singlet. 😳

I know with cows, you can bump to feel the calf.
Can you do that with goats ?

You can actually run your hands along their sides to feel the kids, but when you have multiples, things are a bit crowded so it's difficult to get an actual count.

I have "bumped" goats after they've delivered, to see if there was another kid inside. I wouldn't bump a goat earlier in the pregnancy, out of caution for maintaining the pregnancy. I've seen a goat get broadsided by another goat, and then slip the pregnancy.

At 12 today she was standing around eating hay, no contractions. At 4 she was pushing hard but nothing happening. Time to glove up, oh fun, NOT.

Went in found one leg and nose. Think with me fiddling around she pushed the leg out and and the head. The other leg was back all the way. No way getting that thing back into get the leg out.

Helped her get the baby out but baby is not in great condition. It is really cold out and mom stepped on it three times. So it is in the house now sleeping in a box.

Of course it is a boy.

So far no more. Singles are always so hard... Moms udder is so large the teats are almost touching the ground. Probably have to start milking her in the morning.

Thanks all for the good thoughts.
