I have 6 humming bird feeders hung near our kitchen window. Each feeder has 4 ports that look like flowers and each feeder holds about 3 cups of sugar water. That's 24 feeding ports.

All day from twilight to dark there are at least 16 to 20 humming birds zooming around and drinking. They move so fast I can't count them.

They drain all of the feeders every 2 days---some have to be refilled after 1 day.

I now have 7 humming bird feeders up. Each holds about 3 cups of sugar water and has 4 feeding ports. We have about 25 humming birds zooming in and out from earliest daylight till dark, I'm having to refill the 7 feeders every 2 days.

What would they do if I were not feeding them? There are not many flowers still blooming around here (central Mississippi)?

I find it hard to believe that those tiny birds can fly all the way to Latin America.

Feeders were a pain in Colorado because they chummed up the bears. Here they chum up the wasps. We planted some zinnias in front of the dining room window. Hummers love them, and we get to watch them as we eat with no mess to deal with. Back deck has some morning glories planted near it so we can watch them there.

Sure beats that sugary mess!

Wow! We have a 24 ft. x 4 ft. bed of zinnias and the butterflies and bees love them---but I've never seen a humming bird near them. They also don't care for lantana blossoms---but the butterflies do.

I've had hummingbirds in my lantana, but they'll pass it over if there are other plants blooming.
Their favorite flower here is jewelweed. A patch usually grows in the wet spot on the north side of the house. It's drying up because of the drought so the hummingbirds have had to visit the butterfly bush and mandevilla vines.

Yeah. The only flowers that our humming birds ever visit are those with long, tubular shape blossoms like honeysuckle.
