    What?!?

A government watchdog is expressing concern over the dangerous misuse of a laundry detergent. In this latest social media fad, teenagers are putting detergent pods in their mouths in what's being called the "Tide Pod Challenge."

Ingredients in the pods include ethanol, hydrogen peroxide and polymers – a highly-toxic mix of detergent meant to wipe out dirt and grime. Manufacturers have been concerned about toddlers mistakenly ingesting them, but now teens are popping them on purpose and posting videos of the results online, reports CBS News correspondent Anna Werner.

I don’t know what you do with that kind of stupidity.
Chalk it up to natural selection and move on?

I did some really dumb things as a teen, eating laundry detergent would not have entered my mind.

Many years ago....found a bar of soap in the bathroom with little teeth prints in it....
Asked my son....maybe 4 or 5 years old....
He said, "Yeah...I did it....Mrs. Gilbertson caught us (the kids) swearing.... told us she was gonna wash our mouths out with soap....I wanted to see if it was worth it...."

    Such hard-hearted people!

Surely we can fund a study, employ some focus groups to figure out why teens are doing this and create a government program to address the issue.

Or at least mandate a warning specifically for teenagers on the Tide box.

That is definitely something I would have tried. In fact I think I did chomp down on a bar of soap as a kid for somewhat the same reason. Very bitter!

Hey, I chomped soap as an adult. Was siphoning gasoline and got distracted so ended up with a mouth full of regular. Ran into the house rinsed mouth SEVERAL times, then lathered my mouth up with a bar of Dial gold. The soap was not bad, and no effects from the gas.

But what ARE you supposed to do when you get a mouth full of gasoline?
