We bred a texel ram to suffolk ewes, and purchases suffolk x texel ewes bred with Texel. We had multiple black offspring. Out goal is not wool production, though we dont want to encourage the black trait. I have some questions if anyone can answer! Is this seen as a defect in texel crosses, or rather, is it undesirable? Also, if we breed an amazing looking black ram lamb next year, I mean this lamb looks like a calf, so well built and thick! Anyway, if he is bred with white suffolk and white texel cross, anyone have an idea what chances are of black lambs? 50%? 75%? thanks for any help!
