    One could only wish!

However, I noticed that they did not take into account the labor costs involved in keeping the chickens longer. It is POSSIBLE that that will eat up that 1 cent savings, and then some!

    Which is a shame!

Antibiotics--hum, you don't suppose that they give the shots to prevent disease instead of promoting growth do you? I expect the latter is just a benefit which adds to reduced death loss.

Seems our flocks on the farm always did just fine without medication and the fryers tasted mighty fine.

I used to work for a man who had helped to research for the poultry industry.

He said that they had discoverd that chicks fed antibiotics ate more and gained faster, so then everybody went for it.

I wonder if they included death loss of unmedicated birds...

Well gee, since you didn't read the article... let me help you out:
In other words, the over use of antibiotics just costs money because they aren't effective due to ARI's.

The ARI's they are referring to are Human.
Antiboitics are necessary in confinement production of any animals to cut the losses from disease I believe the proponents are saying.
