Strawberry plants for sale???

When we moved here a little over a year ago there was already an established strawberry 'patch'. Trouble is it is HUGE! I am talking HUNDREDS if not thousands of plants! Last year it was picked one time until everyone got tired (I had a broken ankle so the extended family came to help) and they put 6 gallons in my freezer! I can't take care of the patch, there just isn't the time. Biggest problem is hubby wants that pasture for the cattle and I can't likely ask him to keep them out all summer just for me. So all that said I was thinking about trying to sell them. I though maybe I would put out a sign for strawberry plants for sale and them I would dig them up for them. BUT I don't have a clue what to charge for them? I would like to make a little money but share the wealth also. I have already given all the family and friends all they are willing to take!

What do you think? What would be considered fair? Or should I just forget the whole idea? I guess cows like strawberries.........maybe my milk cow will make strawberry milk!:smiley-laughing013:

I would think if you put an ad on CL for $1 per plant you could make a tidy sum and people would be happy with a good deal too.

I would just dig them to order when people show up.

LOL, if that's the case, I must of had strawberry flavoured duck eggs and didn't know it! :pound:

Seriously, they grow like weeds, don't they? I can't really help you on the prices down there, maybe half of what the nurseries are selling them for (?) That's what I was considering selling mine for, but really, I couldn't give them away, there were so many babies!
Oh why can't you be a little closer? I'm wanting a strawberry patch!!

My thoughts exactly..... :)
Weeds...yes, thats how they grow!!!!
I was thinking maybe $10 for 25 bareroot plants......think that sounds fair?
I sell mine for 50 cents a piece around here, bareroot.
