I’m thinking of trying strawberries this year. Probably June bearing . What’s your favorite? Go!
I planted Jewel last year, so I'm looking to them for big market sized ones. The drawback to Jewel is that the runners are so darned long. so, I ordered Honeoye for this year. We'll see. I used to be able to get Surecrop, but they have fallen out of favor, for some reason. This will be my first year back in production for awhile; I got a pretty bad outbreak of bacterial speck and needed to shut it down for a while.
It might make a difference how far north you live. Some varieties may be just too early for your climate and you'll end up battling the frost snaps....
Thanks geo. Surecrop and Jewel were on my short list. I’m in northcentral Illinois so the growing season is pretty good.
I got Ozarks plan on planting more this spring.
