A couple of weeks ago I noticed something had clipped off some cattails in about 6" of water. I assumed it was my geese.

Yesterday I saw one of my wethers stand in the water and eat cattails. Later I saw 2 others do the same thing.

That is really strange considering the goats normally treat water like something disqusting if they accidently step in it.

I remember reading once that cattail leaves have insecticidal properties.

Most of mine run from rain or water like it is pure acid scalding them, but I have a June doeling that loves water. I think she was watching while I bathed the horses. :) The horses are so spoiled when I fill their water trough they always get sprayed off and she wants to come to the fence and get sprayed too.

I had a wether that I was able to train to go swimming. they're so funny when they swim, thier stomachs float, hehe.

If the rewards are great enough, water doesn't look so scary.

My 2 Does regard water with huge amounts of revulsion, disgust, and silly-stupid fear, but the "kids" (yearlings, now) drink out of the pond and have "discovered" the tasty fresh/new greens that poke out in the shallow end. Momma will snort and spook while they do it; trying to get them to come away, but you know kids!! :p
