What is the basic difference between cold rolled and hot rolled as far as the durability and weldability of steel? (I note hot rolled is significantly cheaper than cold rolled.)

What percentage carbon would A36 have?

...................Don't know about the carbon content , but CR is significantly stronger and therefore more expensive just from my limited experience working with it . Don't think there is any difference in weldability , fordy :)

Cold working metal makes it harder but more brittle. Heating metal softens it, making it easier to work. Welding heats metal and takes the temper out. Temper can be restored by heating and controlling cooling speed. Also referred to flame hardening, surface hardening, ect. The methods used determines the results.
