Does anyone know if you can run a steam whistle with a air compressor?

Sure, we sometimes hook one up to our compressor. But they don't quite sound the same as with steam, maybe it is the moisture in the steam, or maybe something else. But they do work on compressed air.

yeah , the air will sound more harsh than steam, not as mellow. depending on size, it make take lots of air, may need a storage tank near the valve. wear hearing protection when operating.
