Spouse's sense of humor

DH can tell me a joke he's heard or read and I will generally look him square in the face and tell him it's not funny. Then he realizes he's forgotten the punch line or mixed the sequence of events in the story. However, when he makes a comment about something he observes, I usually embarrass myself laughing so hard.

Case in point: We'd been to an auction and it was getting late. It was almost time to do chores, we had our treasures to unload and we didn't want anything I had already prepared at home yet we didn't want to do fast food. We needed a few things at the grocery and stopped by the deli counter. They offered plain potato salad, mustard potato salad and Amish potato salad. More to myself than to DH I asked "What's different about Amish potato salad?" The man didn't miss a beat and answered, "They make it without electricity."

So, who is the stand up comic in your family?

We all are, but DH have the heavyweight title. DD is giving him a run for his money, lately!

She was in the car with her grandparents. Grandpa was explaining that he now had to turn on his headlights when he turned on the wipers. This was a new law. DD (7) pipes up that if they don't stop changing the laws she's going to still be in a car seat when she learns to drive!! (Ohio just upped the car seat law while we were in Europe she's now in it till age 8 - it was 4. She was SO looking forward to getting out of it when we moved back to the US - Europe is till age 12, so DS had to go BACK into one after 4 years out of them!)
My eldest DD16 is a riot...she has an unbeatable memory and can mimic anything, including accents. I tell people I don't need to go to movies, I just send her and she recreates the whole thing from start to finish.

DD15 can't tell jokes very well. Her timiing is off and she often tells it in the wrong sequence. But she can drop a zinger when you least expect it and they may be few and far between but are right on target. I told her we weren't "********" because we read, so we are "red nerds" instead. She said,
"No, that makes us "read necks."

My step daughter called my failed attempt at fondue "fon don't."
My DH can't tell a joke either, he will add more words than necessary, or he will try to shorten it, or he also gets the punch line wrong. But the very worse part of all is for some reason unknown to any one on this planet, he always tells it like he is imitating Gabby Hayes.
I can't tell a joke to save my life, and dh and ds don't even try. But my dd has one quick wit. An hour or two visiting with her and your jaws will ache from laughing so much.
It's usually me, but our eleven year old son is giving me a run for my money. Oddly enough, my husband isn't funny and doesn't like to tell jokes. I keep him laughin' though, so I guess it's all good. He can't scream in frustration when he's laughing, right?
Sometimes I find myself so funny I laugh until I cry, and snort and everyone else sits and stares at me.....
I can't tell a joke, it never comes out right no matter how many times I rehearse it.

BUT, I am awesome at puns. My #2 ds has this ability too and we just feed off each other until we are both rolling around on the floor with tears in our eyes we are laughing so hard and the rest of the family is looking at us like we're insane.

OH MY! You poor things.:gaptooth::hysterical::banana02:
My sister's roommate has impeccable razor wit: sister came home mad because a bomb scare had added several minutes to her time in Pittsburgh's half marathon this week. Her roommate quickly said "I'm sorry; I thought me calling in that bomb threat would help you finish QUICKER!"
ohh boy my nearly 17 year old has wit oozing out his pores, he is quick thinking and can pop off some hilarious zingers...The other day was watching something on the tv, and this gal says "I am celibate on weekdays" and he pops off, I am celibate too, I sell a bit here adn give some away too. I was laughing the whole time I was telling him that AINT funny...now my youngest son who passed away last year, if he tried to be funny, it just came across as him being a smart alek, but when he wasnt trying he cracked us up with his funny sayings...

These are great. I love them all but fon-don't seems to be the topper right now.
