This morning, I pulled carrots (Danvers 1/2, Nantes, and Long Imperator). This is the first year I've grown them in raised beds (about 8" deep).

I pulled a few that were split lengthwise all the way down. They didn't look like critter damage, but like someone had taken a sharp knife and run a slit down them. From the looks of it they hadn't split that long ago.

What d'ya think too much/little rain? Early on we had a 7-wk dry spell, but I kept 'em hand watered. I've had several pickings this season and this hasn't happened before.

Thanks y'all!

Other than than the giant crevice, they're nice and crisp. I guess I'll back off on the water (oops!). Thanks WiHH!
