    Hello to all,

We just made a bid on a small place here in Central Maine. It’s very small (2 acres) – would have liked to have more land, but hey – you have to start out somewhere right? I remember reading a thread here once recommending books and websites describing a well designed layout for a small homestead. I’ve done some searches here but can’t seem to find it. Does anyone remember the title of this thread or can anyone recommend same.

    Thanks in advance.

Try the book by John Seymour 'The Self Sufficient Life and How to Live It'...

It has a diagram of a homestead on a few acres.

    Hope this helps.

You may want to check out "The Have More Plan". A small book thatis tailor made for your situation. I think it is avail. from Storey Publications.

Country Women is a good book covering homestead type projects. From our recent experiences, put the barn, garden and chicken coop near your house. Or get a golf cart to transport tools, milk pails, produce, feed, manure, etc.
