My brassicas all do well but the Caulis and Broccoli all seem to have smallish heads - what am I doing wrong. If I leave them to grow bigger they got to seed/flower. :Bawling: www.birdsferrylodge.co.nz

i had the same luck this year. i have grown very nice broccoli in the past. i thought maybe i had too much nitrogen in the soil as the plants grew very tall. maybe it was all the rain i got.

Where are you? Heat stress can also yield smaller heads in broccoli.

Definatly not heat stress - New Zealand winter! I grow some inside adn some out and the soil is all pretty poor. I add nitrogen so will go easy on that next time. I will use staight homemade compost next time. :)

    Spectacular.
I'd be terrified to cook a meal for paying guests. You are so brave!
