I am new to goats just got a pygmy goat 3 months old. He is a cute little fellow bounces all over the place.
What kinds of vaccinations, etc. do goats need. Can I give what is needed or should a vet do it.
    Thanks.

    Hi Randall,

There still seems to be a lot of controversy out there over vaccinations. We normally vaccinate our kids at 3 months and give them a booster in 6 weeks and then vaccinate them yearly after that. We use Covexin8 for vaccinations. This may be more than you need. The CDT type would probably be a minimum. The best thing would be to work out a vaccination program with your vet that is correct for your area.

We give our own injections as probably most folks do. If you haven't done it before, the vets would probably help you learn. I'll list some web sites that should have some pictures with instructions for injections. We normally only use the neck sites for injections.

    I hope that this helps.

    Ditto!

Hope you plan on getting another goat for him to play with!
